AMARANTH ART SQUARE:
[Architectural Scale]
Core: The focus of this new urban development is this new building. It is bright inside due to the window shelves and vast window panels. The interior atmosphere promotes a welcoming feel and blends in with the landscape due to the natural wood paneling. The architectural program is flexible as the new arts center may be used by current art groups in the neighborhood. The edge of the south wall of the building morphs in relation to the corresponding street and the landscaped yards, allowing different view angles into the outdoor spaces.

The Edge
This diagrammatic sectional perspective model shows the south edge of the building and demonstrates how the repeated architectural elements open up and relate to the landscape. The wooden structural system supports the angled windows and merges into the benches producing mini nooks for people to occupy.

Plan
The "Core," "Transitional Edge," and "Rooms" integrate the landscape with the new building for the arts. The transitional edge is visible in the purple highlighted zone, and is made up by benches and a grid of support columns. Walls running from north to south correspond to the existing urban grid of buildings in the neighborhood, and the angles of the southernmost wall are parallel to the angle of Lisbon Ave. Walls are flexible and they can be removed or installed to allow for maximum programmatic utilization.

Axonometric
For simplicity, this drawing breaks apart the building into different elements such as the pitched roofs, window shelves, the post and beam structural system, and a possible arrangement of the interior activities. Note the transitional edge that defines a wide boundary zone between the interior and the exterior that may be used and occupied by inhabitants.
