AMARANTH ART SQUARE:
[urban scale]
PHASE 1:
Develop an experiential and educational landscape, that gives identity to this particular area people pass on Lisbon Avenue. This requires “bumping out” the street edge, narrowing the spatial zone for transportation running passing through. This is the doorway and corridor. Starting in the first zone, develop an experiential and educational landscape. This is the hallway, rooms, and transitional pathways. PHASE 2:
Build the new arts center building, to be the core of the “arts square.” It should respond to the existing grid, and morph with and into the existing landscape. The hallway, rooms, and transitional pathways will lead into and correspond coherently to the landscape and architectural scales. Internally, the building allows flexibility of programming, while also responding to tectonic spaces and relationship to the human scale and experiences. PHASE 3: After the development of the first open lot with an experiential landscape and building, extend the landscape into the surrounding empty lots of the intersection. This will complete the “arts square” - the integration of the landscape, eco-education, and the arts. All is connected by the fundamental ideas of core, doorway, corridor, hallway, rooms, and transitional pathways. |
