Architectural Proposals
Architecture forms space, but it is the people within those spaces who make architecture come to life. Selecting two sites for an architectural design, each located in a different edge of the neighborhood, allows for the exploration of different learning and gathering nodes within these spaces. This exploration endeavors to understand how a connection of nodes within a neighborhood can bring about self-sustaining systems, walkability, and safety.
1: Garden
The garden is more than just a garden space; it is a space that rehabilitates an old building into a market and community node. This courtyard system features a garden and outdoor area during the summer along with a greenhouse for use all year round. This space is located in the back edge of the Martin Drive Neighborhood which allows community members within it to come together to work and play.
2: Café
The Café is located in the front edge of the Martin Drive Neighborhood which allows for the neighborhood and people from the surrounding areas to interact with one another. Within the café there is a classroom for people to facilitate small meetings along with a large event space.
