Kohl's re-design
This early 20th century structure is a common shape of past grocery stores. Its simple interior layout of space is combined with uncommon shapes such as, a large curved roof. In this design the interior spaces is changed, shifted, and added to by the current user of the space. The structural ordering system is further combined with the cities ordering system of structures and lot lines as a starting point to the interior layout. Interior / exterior and building / street edges are further redesigned as activity spaces. Overall, a courtyard design is surrounded by an exterior walkable path.
Plan, experiential sections and elevation of adapted Kohl's grocery store. The three building sections cut through the north portion of the building. They show what the user would experience while walking through the building.
